Skinimalism

Surely if you like the world of beauty you have heard about this new trend in skin care which is known as Skin Minimalism or "Skinimalism".

It is an alternative to the 10-step routine that is based on returning to the essentials, using as few products as possible and achieving excellent results for your skin.

Skinimalism has many benefits, but the main ones are:

  • It is a cheaper option
  • Sustainable with the planet
  • Adapted result for healthier skin

Let's be honest, we have less and less time and we need products whose mission is to provide us with specific care without having to use different cosmetics for a simple and effective routine.

Skinimalism has come to stay for its simplicity, for its "less is more" and for providing us with specific care products. It helps us to have more consistency in our routine by knowing that in a few minutes we can obtain the same results and that even with little time in the morning or at night, we can take care of our skin and provide it with specific care.

Of course, you can always do your 10-step routine or a more complete routine once or twice a week, taking advantage of the weekend to give your skin a rest with a mask and a good exfoliation. Being the perfect complement to your daily routine.

Here we leave you the steps for a basic routine:

1. Cleaner

The first step in any routine should be cleaning. It removes dirt, excess oil and impurities that can clog pores, which can lead to breakouts. Sleeping with makeup is also not a good idea, as it can cause these undesirable pimples and skin congestion. You should clean your face twice a day, that is, in the morning and at night.

What type of cleaner to choose?

Everyone likes that spotless clean feeling we get after cleaning. Therefore, you should use a gentle cleanser that provides a hydrating sensation after cleansing.

You should clean your face for 45-60 seconds and then dry it with a facial towel that you have reserved for your face.

If you have dry skin use a cream or oil based cleanser, combination and oily skin should use a foaming cleanser and normal skin is free to choose whatever type of cleanser feels best with.

2. Exfoliation · Serum · Treatment

Our skin is a very intelligent organ, it has the power to exfoliate dead skin cells on its own. Exfoliation is the next step in the skin care routine, we use chemical or physical exfoliants to get rid of all the impurities and dirt on our skin. Physical exfoliation basically means using physical exfoliants to get rid of dead skin, while chemical exfoliation means using acids to exfoliate. Chemical exfoliation is not as scary as it seems, sometimes it is gentler than physical exfoliation since it does not rub the skin. It is advisable not to exfoliate more than twice a week and there are different exfoliants for different skin types. Dry skin types should use AHA i.e. lactic acid or glycolic acid to exfoliate, oily/combination and acne-prone skin can use BHA i.e. salicylic acid to exfoliate.

Serums are concentrated formulations that target a specific concern. We have different serums aimed at brightening our skin, reducing hyperpigmentation, reducing expression lines and acne. Serums can be incorporated into your skincare routine, but it is definitely not essential. "It's good to have actives in your routine, but it's not an essential step," according to experts.

3. Moisturizing

Hydration is an important step in any facial routine. We have all heard that if you have oily skin, you should not apply moisturizer. But that is not true, you should never skip this very important step because it forces your skin to produce more oil due to this lack of moisture, causing the opposite effect, creating the sensation of an oilier face. There are many different moisturizers, dry skin should use a cream-based moisturizer and oily and combination skin should use gel-based moisturizers. Normal skin types can choose any product.

4. Sunscreen

This is possibly the most important step of the routine. Any product or routine will be ineffective without the use of a sunscreen. It should provide you with protection against UVA and UVB rays, it should also have an SPF of more than 30. Sunscreen is a non-negotiable part of your daily routine and protects you from a lot of damage.
